HISTORY: Mercy was born to puritans, Richard and Mary Hale. Mary died in child birth, leaving Richard to raise Mercy. Richard was a Warlock, hiding himself in plain view so as to avoid suspicion of Witchcraft. He had lost his entire family to burning at the stake when he was but a boy, however, to keep Mercy safe, he suppressed her memories of her abilities.

Mercy grew up as any other child, with a loving father and mother...whom Mercy did not know was her stepmother, but the woman loved Mercy like her own, and brought her up as such. Eventually, Richard became Ipswich's Magistrate and law, as he knew no one would dare question him, or his daughter again.

As Mercy got older, she fell in love with a Christian man who's family was one of the first to settle in Ipswich. He had loathed the Puritans for their hypocrisy and intimidation tactics, but he knew the only way to get out of Ipswich with any hope of a future, was to join the militia and fight in the war. Unfortunately, he left Mercy with a gift, that neither of them would know about until after he had already left...vowing to come home as soon as he could.

Upon Mercy's 18th birthday, she began noticing changes within her mind, and body. Richard could not ask his precious daughter to leave the only home she had ever known, and he knew that his daughter would soon be targeted for premarital relations, and of course being a woman...would have her put under suspicion of being a witch. The Puritans with this witch scare would no doubtedly accuse Mercy of having enchanted some saintly Puritan man, since Mercy's love had already left Ipswich. Richard had no choice but to draw the attention to himself, and he left Mercy his Grimoire which explained everything in gruesome, horrible, yet enlightening detail...then, he was hung.

Since it had been the hypocritical puritans that had caused her father's death, the loss of her love, and the babe that grew in her womb, as well as the many woes in her life, Mercy began to plot her revenge. Spelling the wealthiest man in Ipswich, Massachusetts, Cotton Mather, Mercy forced him to fall in love with her, and married him only to become the wealthiest woman in Ipswich. Leading the puritans in a game of cat and mouse, she need not lift a finger once the true threat of witches was insinuated, for the puritans began killing one another during the Witch Trials.

When none of the puritans in Ipswich lived, Mercy took her revenge to Salem. It was the priest who pointed her out for what she was, refusing to fall prey to her beauty, or her lies. Thus, Mercy was forced to perform the most powerful spell she could, a time jump through an energy warp, which landed her in the year 2017...and away from persecution.

MERCY'S DOMICILE

Atop a large Pentacle, which had been scorched into the earth of the forest, there is a colossal willow spiraling upward, and stretching upward beyond the canopy of trees. A quarter of a mile, surrounding the ancient tree in all directions, a Spring warmth can be felt radiating through even the most bitter cold. The dense overhang of branches and leaves offers a perfect curtain surrounding the tree, leaving everything within to it's own privacy. However, within the curtain lies a secret Eden, and the temperature rises to Summer heat. The old, knotted branches of the tree are thick and draped with vibrant, flowering vines. From the knots, hang antique lanterns, and within them tiny creatures flutter about illuminating them. The grass blanketing the ground is full, of green-blue in color, and as soft as a rabbit's fur. Within the garden, there is a deceptively small pool, and the water almost glitters in it's clean, cool purity. Noticeably, it seems that every manner of woodland creature is either laying about, playing, or grazing upon the grass and quaint squares of turned earth, which produced a myriad of vegetables and fruits. Even the small picket fence did not seem to deter the wildlife. Upon the trunk of the massive weeping willow, was a door, which when closed, made it impossible to see...as well as the lovely, welcoming domicile that could be found within. The same lanterns that hung upon the knots outside the tree, also hung upon the branches within it...and the flowering vines, wound with white gossamer, swung downward like showers of rain. The main sitting room is sparsely decorated, but comfortable with it's heavily cushioned, intertwined branch furniture, and grassy carpet. Just off to the left of the door, there is an ornate alcove decorated with a witch's altar, and past the sitting room is a large kitchen that appeared to have every convenience...or so it seemed. In truth, the kitchen was just as enchanted as this tree, and all that came with it, with the exception of the woodland creatures, of course. The kitchen provided for the needs of it's user. The door to the privy could be found off to the right of the door, and the bedchamber, though small...is more than enough to offer a comfortable night's rest. It is decorated just as simplistically and ruggedly as the sitting room, with one unknowing exception. The large bed within the center, draped in white cotton and gossamer, is also enchanted, and will adjust to the comfort of any who rest upon it.
